La tetraedrita es un mineral del grupo de los sulfuros. Es un antimoniosulfuro de hierro y cobre, de color muy oscuro. La tetraedrita aparece en vetas hidrotermales, a temperaturas bajas a moderadas. También se puede encontrar en algunos depósitos de metamorfismo de contacto. Normalmente asociado a minerales de cobre, plata, plomo y zinc.
El oropimente es un mineral del grupo II (sulfuros) según la clasificación de Strunz. Es un trisulfuro de arsénico (As2S3), es un mineral monoclínico compuesto por arsénico y azufre. De coloración anaranjada amarillenta, se encuentra en todo el mundo, y se forma por sublimación en las fumarolas volcánicas, en fuentes hidrotermales templadas, por cambios bruscos de temperatura y como subproducto de la descomposición de otros minerales arsenicales.
La siderita es un mineral de la clase 05 de la clasificación de Strunz. Es un carbonato de hierro (II) (FeCO3), del grupo de la calcita. Es uno de los principales minerales de hierro conocido desde tiempos prehistóricos. es un mineral pesado, tiene una composición de carbonato de hierro y un ordenamiento interno hexagonal.
La bornita o erubescita es un mineral del grupo de los Sulfuros. Es un sulfuro de hierro y cobre, de color cobre manchado con iridiscencias púrpuras, por lo que se le da el apodo de pavo real mineral. aparece diseminada en rocas ígneas máficas y en materiales sedimentarios cupríferos.
El jaspe es una roca sedimentaria. Posee una superficie suave y se utiliza para ornamentación o como gema. Se puede pulir y utilizar en floreros, sellos y, tiempo atrás se la utilizó para cajas de tabaco. Los colores son rojos o violáceos, grises a negros, a veces verdes, amarillos, pardos, en ocasiones combinados. La "jaspilita" es variedad de jaspe veteado con niveles ferruginosos y manganesíferos muy distintivos.
La calcantita, chalcantita, calclasa o chalclasa, es un mineral del grupo VI (sulfatos) según la clasificación de Strunz, se la conoce por ser extremadamente soluble en el agua (hecho que explica que solamente se encuentre de forma natural en zonas de clima muy seco), acumular bastante polvo y proporcionar al paladar un gusto metálico. Es levemente tóxica.
La rodocrosita es un mineral poco abundante del grupo V (carbonatos), según la clasificación de Strunz. Es un carbonato de manganeso (II) (MnCO3). En su forma pura, tiene un característico color rosa rojizo, si bien es poco frecuente encontrarlo así. En función de las impurezas, la tonalidad de este mineral puede variar desde el rosa hasta el marrón claro. Se forma en depósitos de manganeso alterados y en filones hidrotermales.
El aragonito o aragonita es una de las formas cristalinas del carbonato de calcio (CaCO3). Puede encontrarse en forma de estalactitas, y también en la concha de casi todos los moluscos y en el esqueleto de los corales. Entre las variedades del aragonito destaca la llamada flos-ferri (flor de hierro), que se asemeja a un coral.
Químicamente es un disulfuro de hierro y cobre metalizado, de la clase 2 de los minerales. Los cristales son pseudotetraedros, corrientemente con recubrimiento de tetraedrita o tennantita. La mayoría de las veces se la encuentra en forma masiva y las pocas veces que se ven los cristales están muy maclados y aplanados. Forma una serie de minerales de solución sólida. Puede formarse y encontrarse en: rocas pegmatitas neumatolíticas, rocas hidrotermales de alta temperatura.
La dumortierita es un mineral nesosilicato fibroso de coloración variable de aluminio boro-silicato. Se cristaliza en el sistema ortorrómbico en general formando agregados fibrosos de cristales prismáticos alargados. Los cristales son vidriosos y su color varia del marrón, azul, y verde a los más raros violeta y rosado. La substitución del hierro y otros elementos tri-valentes por aluminio es lo que produce las variaciones de color.
La rodonita o pajsbergita es un mineral del grupo de los silicatos, subgrupo inosilicatos, y dentro de estos pertenece a los piroxenos. Químicamente es un silicato de manganeso. Se presenta en masas espáticas granuladas o en granos diseminados, muy raramente en cristales tabulares. Color rosa rojizo característico, pero que puede cambiar a marrón-negro cuando queda expuesto a la intemperie.
La pirrotina es un mineral que debe su nombre al color rojizo o rosado que presenta. Tiene una composición química similar a la de la troilita, un sulfuro de hierro que se encuentra únicamente en los meteoritos. Sinónimo de pirrotina es pirita magnética, denominación que alude a una característica especial que presenta este mineral, es decir, a su fuerte magnetismo. Se forma, por cristalización antes de la consolidación de las rocas eruptivas básicas y ultrabásicas y se concentra posteriormente a causa de su elevado peso específico.
