Los laminados de alta presión son materiales de revestimiento que se pegan sobre un sustrato (MDF, aglomerado, tablero de partículas, etc.). Elaborados a partir de una selección especial de papeles decorativos, papel kraft impregnado con melamina y resinas fenólicas. Estos son luego prensados y endurecidos bajo calor y alta presión, proceso del cual obtienen el nombre de HPL (High Pressure Laminate / Laminado de Alta Presión). Las telas de polímeros sintéticos y fibras refractarias son las fibras hechas a partir de productos químicos, en ellas no intervienen directamente derivados naturales. De estas fibras encontramos nylon, poliéster, vinil, elastano, poliuretano, tergal etc. Estas fibras se distinguen fácilmente porque conservan la forma, son muy resistentes a la humedad y a la abrasión.
