El tamaño de la albura del tilo generalmente es bastante grande y de color blanco cremoso y se desvanece gradualmente con el duramen, cuyo color vapálido a cofé rojizo, en ocasiones con nudos más oscuros. La madera tiene una textura fina y uniforme con veta recta indistinguible.
