DESCRIPCIÓN:
El oropimente es un mineral del grupo II (sulfuros) según la clasificación de Strunz. Es un trisulfuro de arsénico (As2S3), es un mineral monoclínico compuesto por arsénico y azufre. De coloración anaranjada amarillenta, se encuentra en todo el mundo, y se forma por sublimación en las fumarolas volcánicas, en fuentes hidrotermales templadas, por cambios bruscos de temperatura y como subproducto de la descomposición de otros minerales arsenicales.
- Brillo: Nacarado.
- Color: Amarillo parduzco, amarillo limón, amarillo naranja.
- Raya: Amarillo pálido.
- Dureza:1.5 - 2 Mohs
- Exfoliación: No.
APLICACIONES
El oropimente se utiliza en la fabricación de cristal permeable a la radiación infrarroja, telas especiales, y linóleo. Como pigmento tiene aplicaciones en semiconductores y fotoconductores y en la fabricación de fuegos de artificio.

Posibilidad de utilizar en gran variedad de diseños ornamentales e industriales, mineral que puede ser utilizado como pigmento.
