Fibra de celulosa reciclada, obtenida a partir de una amplia gama de materiales, como los residuos textiles ricos en algodón, el papel reciclado o los residuos de cultivos como la paja de arroz o de trigo.
Los residuos textiles se recogen y clasifican por tipos. Se eliminan los materiales no fibrosos (como botones y cremalleras) y los textiles se desintegran hasta convertirlos en finos jirones.
Las fibras a base de celulosa, separadas de fibras como el poliéster y el elastano, se activan con urea para crear un polvo de carbamato de celulosa estable y soluble. Durante el proceso de hilado en húmedo, la celulosa cristaliza en nuevos filamentos de fibra. El filamento, una vez cortado, lavado y secado, se utiliza en la cadena de suministro de la fabricación textil. Se utiliza en la fabricación de todo tipo de textiles, desde ropa hasta sábanas, pasando por textiles para el hogar, toallitas y pañales.
